Meet Your Guides
Brooke Edwards :: Executive Life Coach | Resilience & Leadership Specialist | Wilderness Guide
With over three decades of experience in high-stakes wilderness expeditions across Alaska, Japan, and Antarctica, Brooke has cultivated a deep understanding of leadership, resilience, and personal transformation in challenging environments.
Her own journey of overcoming nervous system injury, combined with extensive healing practices, has led her to pivot from wilderness guiding to a dedicated focus on executive life coaching. Through advanced training in nervous system regulation and resilience-building modalities, she specializes in helping individuals develop a deeper awareness of their mental and emotional landscapes. Brooke’s coaching strategies aim to help strengthen your leadership, improve decision-making, and foster well-being in both your personal and professional life.
As a woman who has navigated a predominantly white, male-dominated outdoor industry, she is committed to creating inclusive, empowering spaces where diverse voices can thrive.
Mik Dalpes :: Avalanche Forecaster |Wilderness Guide | Adventure Mom
Mik is currently an avalanche forecaster for the Chugach National Forest Avalanche Center where she started a stress and resilience program for her team. The experience to start a program like this came from involvement in a similar program while working as a mountaineering ranger at Denali National Park.
Mik’s outdoor career began in Colorado as a Ski Patroller. From there she branched into outdoor education with the Outward Bound School taking groups of teenagers and adults kayaking and mountaineering in Alaska. Mik also sea kayak guided in AK and Antarctica before shifting into a role as a park ranger with the National Park Service.
Over two decades of working in male dominated industry has cultivated the desire for inclusive environments where non-traditional leadership qualities are valued and respected. Through personal failure and challenge along her journey Mik has grown her nervous system awareness and capacity to show up rather than shut down when challenge arises.

Seward is located in the northern tip of the largest coastal rainforest in the world, and we see a lot of rainy days here. Our tours run rain or shine, so we ask you to wear synthetic layers of clothing, because cotton (including jeans) get really cold if they get wet. We will not allow cotton or jeans on a multi- day trip as staying warm is a safety concern when in the backcountry. Synthetic and or wool clothing is a must.
We also require you to have a waterproof rain jacket and rain pants, as this is a multi-day tour in a potentially very cold and wet environment. If you do not have your own rain gear, we offer high quality, commercial grade rain jackets and pants for you to borrow at no extra cost.
Please wear footwear that you’re comfortable hiking in, will keep you warm, and you don’t mind potentially getting a bit wet). We have rubber boots to lend if needed, but these don’t insulate as well and we’ve found people are most comfortable in their own shoes. Your guide will launch and land your kayaks from shore and will work hard throughout the day to keep your feet warm and dry. A pair of crocs, running shoes or other low profile comfortable shoe can also be brought as a camp shoe.
We also provide pogies (neoprene mitts for your hands while kayaking) which will keep your hands warm and comfortable while you’re out there. You’ll want to be sure to have your own reusable (non-disposable) water bottle, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.
You will receive a trip-specific packing list upon booking, which will go into great detail about what else to bring. Keep an eye out for it in your confirmation email!
